Care home massage therapy
I believe that massage therapy should be available to everyone regardless of age, mobility or health status. The benefits of physical and mental relaxation is invaluable, especially to those restricted by poorer health.
What do I offer?
I offer on-site massage therapy to care homes throughout central Scotland. The gentle hand and arm, scalp and leg / foot massages are made up of small 5, 10 or 15-minute massages, which I believe is preferable for the elderly, but can be tailored to however you would like.
What are the benefits of therapeutic massage?
Massage has many great benefits such as improving circulation and relieving muscle tension, particularly important for people who sit for long periods of time. Massage also boosts the immune system and encourages the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkiller and feel-good hormone. It is also incredibly relaxing, helping to reduce anxiety and stress and improve sleep.
Most importantly, older adults can often be deprived of caring touch. Massage alleviates this and improves well-being by having a positive effect both mentally and emotionally.
What do I do?
I set up in a room you have available - a family room or similar is ideal and all of the massages can be done whilst seated in any chair or wheelchair. I use gentle grape seed oil on the skin, bring an aromatherapy diffuser and play music to help relaxation.
There will be no complicated health questionnaires or forms for residents to complete prior to the massage. I will provide a document for you as the care home to read and sign. This is just to confirm that anyone put forward for massage has no health conditions that you know of where massage would not be suitable and that they have consented to the massage treatment.
Prices start from £65 for a 2-hour session
If massage is something you would like to add to your well-being or activities schedule then please get in touch with your requirements and I will be happy to help.
