My name is Vicky Barbour and I am a massage therapist and complementary health practitioner. I trained at the well-respected Scottish Massage School in Edinburgh where I obtained a diploma in Swedish massage. I also have post-graduate training in oncology massage (massage for people living with cancer), Indian head massage, hot stone massage, Eastern face massage, aromatherapy facials & pregnancy massage. I am currently studying clinical reflexology accredited by Napier University.
My high level of training has enabled me to join the professional body for massage therapists in Scotland, the Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation. I am also a member of the voluntary government regulator for complementary healthcare in the UK, the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council which is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. The accredited register was set up by the government to improve standards and safety for the benefit of the public. As a member of this body, I ensure that I uphold high standards of practice in my work to build trust with clients and health providers.
I also trained in emergency first aid and am a member of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme managed by Disclosure Scotland for both adults and children.
Massage is a wonderful complementary therapy with an array of benefits for the body, mind and spirit. I believe that this therapy should be available to everyone regardless of age, mobility or health status. The benefits of physical and mental relaxation is invaluable, especially to those restricted by poorer health.
I would love to hear from you to see how I can help. Please take a look at my treatments page and the benefits of massage. I have answered common questions here however if you would like to know anything else, please get in touch.
